In another attempt to single-handedly prop up economics of the health care industry, we took our 4th trip to the ER last night since moving to Nebraska.
The honor of this trip goes to the Leggie Lou. She attempted to bobsled down the hilly street by our house on a bike and then turn on a dime into a side street. Unfortunately, there was still sand on the corner from previous snowy days, which promptly whip-slammed her to the pavement.
In addition to some road rash, she managed to break her left thumb. They put her hand in a splint for the first day or two, and then she will get a cast later this week. She is home resting comfortably today and in fact has only had one Tylenol last night, so she is being a toughie.
Lisa says she thinks it is funny since she is left handed, and now we have to figure out how she is going to write. Her parents don't find it all to be quite as funny, but we are very grateful that she was wearing a helmet (head bounced multiple times on the pavement) and that a kind man who lives on that corner came immediately to her aide. We are also congratulating Rob on his quick run back up the hill to get Dad. He may have beat the Wiley Post time.
Happy Easter to all,

It feels wierd, like I only have four fingers and no thumb. The splint makes it look like my thumb is the size of Mt. Everest.
Hope you feel better! I think that is enough trips to the E.R. for ya'll. You really are making this a memorable year Lisa!
Hi honey,
You look darling - just a little banged up!!! You will be an expert on splints etc. by the end of 2009.
Bobpa was a so concerned about you, and me too, so we are glad you are doing so well now. We are proud of the grace you show as you go through all this.
i feel guilty because i told her to go down the hill.
ROB
Cy and I say ~ so sorry Lisa, hope you heal fast! Best wishes on a very speedy recovery. Remember that the motto of life is that if you're going to wreck ~ wreck big. It makes for great stories! ;-)
