What Emmy did on Christmas Vacation, Part One

I've been overwhelmed by the last two weeks and haven't figured out how to do a post. It has been sad and perhaps an end of an important era of closest relations in my life and at the same time wonderful and full of new, happy memories with my siblings and closest cousins. Seems all i can do is go back to my old report out blog mode. Memories and funny stories about the week will likely surface in future posts.
12/15 - Mom, Dad, Bob, Sue drive to Missoula to pick up Emmy and shop til we drop; Meet Timber at the mall (what a sweetie!); see Bridgett working at Bob Wards; have lunch at Hu Hot with Doug, Sandy, Brit, Tyro, & Chloe; contingent to airport to pick up Emmy (YAHOO!); lovely dinner at Tempie's with Uncle Bo and Mel (a very comfortable place to receive the news about Uncle Roy); more shopping with Aunt Em & girls.
12/16 - Head back to Dillon with stop at Rousaures and Barnes & Noble. Go to Forrester upper ranch where Jenny, Bill, Liane, & boys are. Tears, hugs, and no one could sit in Uncle Roy's chair. (Our 35th wedding anniversary - where does time go)
12/17 - work, Em helps Mom & cooks dinner, student senate reception, late night student issue (Emmy provides good advise), Liane picks up Joyce, Irene, Dan, & Alice in Butte late; Jenny picked up Holly at noon. (Mom sick)
12/18 - work - lots of interesting budget stuff going on at system level, Bob, Dan, Alice, Mom & Dad come to UMW holiday reception,(Em sick) cancel staff brunch planned for next morning, go to Bill & Liane's where Holly, Joyce, Jenny are all having venison stew & irish soda bread, we work on a reading about Uncle Roy for the funeral, Pete arrives from Missoula, Dan, Alice, Mom, & Dad join for memories and writing - a lovely evening.
12/19 - work in a.m.,decide to have the after funeral reception at Mom's - a place Uncle Roy loved to come for family events and have a cousin dinner at my house on Thrusday night to be all together; organize, grocery shop; deal with work issue while Christmas shopping in Quality (emmy loved the phone time in odd places) Dan & Alice come up to visit and help us start cooking, eat dinner with us, David & Carolyn arrive after school from Billings, some of the third generation come up for cards & talk. Steve comes in late, late to Bozeman.
12/20 - work on budget issues, help with final edits as H,J,J,& B. stop by Mom's on way to ministers, all help set up Mom's house for the reception; C.M.& Maddie arrives, Shawn & Gareth arrive Missoula, Bobby arrives from Brown, (Emmy got up at 7:00 each day and helped every where all day long)come home mid afternoon and cook for a wonderful evening (Mom, Dad, Dan, Alice, Steve, C.M., Maddie, Bob, Sue, Em, Bill, Liane, Tyler, Bob, Joyce, Shawn, Gareth, Irene, Holly, Jenny, David, Peter, Carolyn, Terry, Andy, & John Warren) good food & drinks, good company, and a rousing squeak game made for a lovely time and as Mom's says - it worked well. David gave me a remember always compliment when he said this felt so comfortable - just like being at Martha's house. Em & I stayed up until 1:30 with the other kids playing games & philosophising.
12/21 - Dad works & does work lunch, Sara & Spence arrive; Em prepares a great picture center piece for table, and I go to mom's to do the final food prep and set up for the reception with my sibs - even that was fun! The 2:00 funeral was short with the reading and beautiful music - Laurie sang my favorite "For the Beauty of the Earth" - and well attended. The military graveside service was a tear jerker as Taps played and a solitary hawk soared several times around the grave and then flew up and away. Only nature can make a perfect picture like that. The reception was a great success with lots of people and much visiting. Aunts Dodi, Hazel, Carlene, and cousins Cinda, Jodi, Terry, & Elaine were there and so good to see them. People stayed and stayed. Sibs & cousins stayed late at Mom's after over and the 3rd generation showed back up at our house for games into the wee hours after going to the movie.
12/22 - Bob and Dan take long ride to Salmon, ID. Em & i enjoy lazy morning at house wrapping presents etc. Brit did Emmy's hair. People in & out. In evening have a nice dinner at Doug & Sandy's with Brit, Tryro, Chloe, Bendan, Jenna, Rod & Judy Siring, four Creger's & his parents. Em stayed late to play games there.
12/23 - Shopping in a.m.,visiting, game night at our house with briggs, davis, & forrester people - about 18. Em leads many games after preparing snacks & house. Everyone has a rousing time.

I Know - ENOUGH, ENOUGH -- I'll do the next few days of family week that never ends next time.

Love you all and missed having the Anne's and Loren's with us very much!!

SUE
