Emmy's Christmas Vacation, Part II

Good Morning. Know this is all fascinating but it is good for my brain to try and remember what happened in the last few days -- the original brain age exercise!

did I mention that the game night on 12/23 was Brittany's Bunny Sip party - and it worked. The bunny sip was good if i do say so myself - discussion if it was eggnog base, tom & jerry base, or tapioca pudding base! We all tipped a cup in memory of Briggs' tradition and old memories. Sent Brittany home with leftovers but her Dad drank it all. Aunt Val's tray of goodies added to a very very "sweet" night. (Little Irene did ask if there really were bunnies in it and passed)

12/24 - Dad has only worked about 3 hours of overtime all year and then gets 3 hours on Christmas eve! He worked from Wisdom to Wise River and then back to Grant over the old Bannack pass (not sure a good plan late on that night on old mountain road but it worked) He put 252 miles on the service truck that day. I had to do an emergency correction to Western's 2011 budget initiatives before 10 a.m. Em and I hung with family at Mom's waiting for Bob & Ben to arrive from Seattle. Wonderful to have most of the Carl Davis family together (14 of us - did note that if Anne and Loren were there the number would have increased by 11!!) Em made both the big pots of Anne's tomato soup and the potato soup for the traditional dinner at Mom's. We had a lovely evening there and each opened a brand new vest from Dad hand picked with great care at Quality Supply. It was fun. AND IT SNOWED!

12/25 - Due to previous many big parties (see last blog)we cancelled the Christmas Brunch here and instead did a laid back day of snacking and visiting. The three of us had a nice Christmas morning and many wonderful gifts - thanks to you all. Then family (Brendan, Jenna, Tyro, Brit, Chloe, Alice, Dan, C.M., Spence, Maddie, Steve, Bob & Ben) dropped up during the day for visiting, snacking, and playing games. (Yes - we are game crazy) In the evening we went to mom's for beef stew and cornbread (had enough turkey & ham earlier in week!) and then the Forrester 13 joined the Davis 14 for dessert, a sneak special viewing of "Grain Expectations", wonderful conversations all over the house, and yes - more game playing. Bob and I were on the winning team of Shawn's Christmas trivia quiz thanks to bob's knowledge of old Christmas films. Although Bob and I came home around 10 the party lasted with the 3rd generation into the wee hours creating new family lore (see BobinSeattle post). Hope all of you had wonderful times on the 24th & 25th also.

12/26 to 12/28 - Bob works, Sue works half days (that's where we rested!)All the 27 in Dillon keep enjoying each others company. Wednesday - C.M & family home and the remaining Davis 10 feast at Pizza Hut (no dishes!), Thursday - Tolton's & Holly head home, Steves ski, A&D to Husted ranch, A&D fix dinner for Carl, Martha, Sue, Em, Bill, Liane, Tyler, & Bobby at Mom's. Dan made pheasant stir fry from his North Dakota hunt and Liane cooked elk roast from Tyler's hunt. Steve, Bob, Ben, Joyce, Shawn, Irene, & Gareth go to Las Carmaleta's for dinner & to the Chipmunk movie.(Know Kalin would have picked this yummy option) Friday, Steves head to Helena, M&D,S&B, and Em take D&A to Butte - good dinner at Fred's Mesquite Grill and leave them at Copper King to spend night for early morning flight to Alaska. Getting lonely in Dillon

12/29 - 12/31 - Bob helping Doug at shop, Em & I on laundry and bill paying, will go to Missoula tomorrow to enjoy Brit and Em's families. Monday put Em on plane for end of a very busy Christmas Vacation where relax was not the operative word - it was dishes! Em just received a major head injury that is bleeding by bumping head with headband on into wall while putting detergent in washer. Not sure how you bump your head doing that but!!??

Final comments - Uncle Roy and Aunt Annie would have so enjoyed this time of togetherness with Bobo, Marty and all the kids - a fitting time of remembrance for them both; greatest love to all the Forresters who took such wonderful care of Uncle Roy and who chose to stay with each other for a special Christmas at this time of their great sadness; special love to Annes, Lorens, Aunt Tempie, & the Ray families who were so missed during this celebration but who were with us in spirit; a reflection on how lucky I've been to be raised in this wonderful family and extended families - it is what makes the ride worthwhile.

Love to all --Sue
