The Four S's

LoB has come up with another crazy idea in an effort to get out the blog reader participation. LoB began forming the idea after reading a blog posted by his man crush, The Sports Guy. By the way LoB thinks that he saw the Sports Guy at Chipotle last week. I'm sure this will come as no surprise to those of you that know loB and know that in his short life he has claimed to look like Clint Black when he wears a cowboy hat, Maverick when he has a side spike, and Gerard Butler whenever Kalin says G.B. is hot, but he is now claiming that seeing the Sports Guy was like looking in a mirror. The Sports guy wrote about a challenge he had with his friends called the "Man of the Year Competition."  This competition involves competing in everything from parallel parking challenges to retaking the S.A.T. for the best score. LoB then decided he wanted to have his own "Man of the Year Competition"...unfortunately he has no man friends to play with and Kalin and I have to draw the line somewhere. So he revised the plan and ya'll are lucky enough to be included!
We are going to have monthly challenges. We will work together as a blog to complete goals in 4 different categories. Each month we will have new goals to complete. All results will be posted. LoB chose 4 categories that represent our family values (and also words that start with the letter "S") so that he could cleverly call this challenge The Four S's...
Without further adeiu we present to you November's Four S's...
Stewardship: We are challenging all Briggy Bunch readers to change there regular lightbulbs to C.F.L.'s.  We know many of you already use these environmentally friendly bulbs, but we would like to ask those of you that don't (ME!) to join us in doing our part.  Here is a little something to help motivate you...
"If every American home replaced just one incandescent light bulb with a CFL, we'd save enough energy to light 2.5 million homes for a year and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of nearly 800,000 cars."

Service:  We will start small with our service goal for the month of November.  We would like everyone to donate just one hour in the month of November to some service project.  It doesn't matter how big or small.  Take pictures and post about what you did with your hour of service.  Martin Luther King Jr. said, "Everybody can be great because anybody can serve.  You don't have to have a college degree to serve.  You don't need to make your subject and verb agree to serve.  You only need a heart full of grace.  A soul generated by love."

Self Improvement: I'm just going to give it to you straight... a few of us *ahem* need to work on getting a bit healthier.  The self improvement goal for the month of November will be to take 40 pounds total off the readers of the Briggy Bunch.  I think this is cruel considering we are staring Thanksgiving in the face, so the way I see it is the more people that work together on this goal the fewer individual lbs. we will need to shave off!

Shenanigans:  Finally we come to the fun one.  We grew up with the motto, "Work hard, Play hard."  I think this will be my favorite category cause I sure do enjoy the playing.  We would like everyone in the month of November to create some craft project.  LoB wanted everyone to make a pillow but Kalin and I think the readers of the Briggy Bunch deserve a little more creative freedom.  Macaroni Necklace... sure!  Scrapbook page...yes!  Painting... I like it! The only rule...POST A PICTURE OF YOUR FINAL PRODUCT!!  We are fun people.  Let's have some fun here!

Please comment any questions you might have about the 4 S's and remember to keep us posted with all accomplishments!! Good Luck Briggy Bunchers!

I love this idea (was a little worried because i will never retake the S.A.T.!) This will be great fun - I know we can do it but only if the rest of the family who read the blog (if any) must start commenting and weighing in -- i mean that literally -- unless we can get about 20 people weighing in the weight goal will be very hard to make -- so please join us on the blog!!!

OK, so we are already in the process of changing out the lightbulbs. We noticed the new light bulbs burn brighter as well as being better for the environment.

Does the cast weight from Lisa count since she gets it off on Monday?

1. Mom you will be taking the S.A.T. again.
2. Clearly you haven't seen me lately. I could stand to lose the 40lbs myself.
3. I am excited about the advantage of losing Lisa's cast weight. Can we get a post on that?
4. Still debating with Kalin about our service activity. Our lightbulbs are in. Craft project is top secret. Check back later for details.
