Lisa has a new foot (sort of). Her surgery took place in the beginning of October and we are still working on the healing process. Before her surgery we took pictures of her feet- and they looked like this:
After Lisa's surgery, she was in a splint for a week. It was very painful, and she also had to learn how to get around on her crutches (as her foot was not supposed to touch the ground at all). The gray on her foot is an ice pack that we had to switch at regular intervals, and was placed in such a way as to help the pain as much as possible.
After a week, Lisa was put into a bright green cast. She was in the cast for a month and got to be amazing on her crutches. It was interesting to see that anything she wanted to do was done- if with some difficulty and creativity- while she always needed help with things like chores. Hummm.

Now she is a walking boot. She is still on the crutches for another three weeks while she strengthens her foot. Now she can put her foot down for balance and we can actually see what has been done. She actually has an arch that is so pretty. I hope you all can tell which foot is done and which one hasn't been worked on yet. I think it is fairly obvious, but you be the judge.

Wow!! The difference between the before and after is AMAZING! What a brave girl! And who can fault her for using to her advantage just a little bit.
oh, man that sucks to get surgery! she's so big now, wow! and so brave. My sister had surgery on both her feet at the same time and I remember her sleeping in our recliner chair so she could keep them elevated! at least Lisa just had one done.
Actually, she is getting both feet done- one at a time. She gets to put no weight on her foot even still. It is about three months from the surgery when she can start really putting any weight on her foot or walking on it- which is why they only do one at a time. In the spring we go in for the right foot- and that is when the real courage comes in, because then she'll know just how painful the whole thing really is.
Lisa - i think your foot looks really good. i hope the next month goes well and you will really be able to feel the difference. We'll have to do some shoe shopping at DWS when this is over!!! Bobpa and I are very proud of you.
